Kat Vitou, Founder CEO of Well Life Tribe

After being diagnosed with cancer, Kat Vitou's life took on a new meaning, and she began to explore the world of wellness. Kat talks to the Industry Leaders about her business Well Life Tribe and running a Podcast about dealing with everyday stress.

How did you end up sitting where you are today?

It's a story of trauma to triumph. My life changed in 2015, when I was diagnosed with cancer. It spun my life, and I suddenly saw everything in a new light.

I trained with the IIN to become a certified health coach and then decided to learn more. I then decided I wanted to bring people in wellness together to help them and provide community, so Well Life Tribe was born, and here we are today.

What kind of work does your role involve?

Running events for the community, networking, providing power hours, plus giving people a chance to run workshops. We encourage collaborations between experts and have a networking event every month. We support these amazing people as much as we can.

What gets you excited about your industry?

The people, the fact that what they do helps others live better.

What's the best advice anyone ever gave you?

Failing is a step to succeeding.

What, or who inspires you?

Authenticity inspires me. I love people who love, who want to grow, and who work through limits.

How do you keep up to speed with what's happening in the industry?

I love reading, I love podcasts and chatting with passionate wellpreneurs; this keeps me updated.

What was the most challenging project or assignment you've worked on?

Organising events - they are much more challenging than they look! But when you see the end result, it makes it all worthwhile.

You finish work today and step outside the office to find a lottery ticket that ends up winning $10 million. What would you do?

Make a difference to my corner of the world.

How do you switch off after a day at work?

I have found a new love of acrylic art - I find it relaxing, and the need to focus allows me to have a clear mind.

If you had one wish for the future of your industry, what would it be?

That it grows and grows as that would mean that people are living a life of holistic health, and a blended life of work and love.

What book or podcast should everyone know about?

Shameless plug but my own podcast that I co-host with my good friend Liberty, the One Size Does Not Fit All podcast.

Other podcasts I love include Tony Robbins, Desert Island Discs, and Mind Body Green.

One book I am reading currently is the Miracle Morning which is very motivational.
