Suzy Wraines, Business Simplified Podcast

Suzy Wraines, the host of Business Simplified podcast, speaks to The Industry Leaders about how her podcast got started, how entrepreneurs can use podcast appearances to their advantage, and provides her #1 tip for any podcast guest looking to make an instant impression.

For those who don't know about your work, can you tell us a little about who you are and who your podcast is for?

I'm Suzy Wraines, a business plan coach. I work with women entrepreneurs who are starting a business or thinking about starting a business. The podcast is for anyone new to starting a business or thinking about starting a business. There are so many moving parts when it comes to being a business owner. The podcast breaks down all areas of business in simplified ways so the listener can use the information immediately after listening.

What 1 tip would you give to a podcast guest who wants to make an instant impression?

Stick to the basics. As a guest, it's important to give value to the listeners. It's not about "selling" on the podcast but more about information so the listener can have an actionable item to take away.

How useful is appearing on podcasts for business owners or people wanting to build a personal brand?

I feel it's very valuable to be on podcasts. This type of medium allows people to search and find what they are looking for. As a business owner getting in front of your audience is vital. Podcasts help to show the listeners who you are and get to know you. Building a personal brand is all about people getting to know who you are.

What's your biggest challenge as a podcast host?

Organizing my episodes in a way that makes sense to the listeners. I don't want to jump all around and not make sense from episode to episode. Having common topics bundled together, I think, adds to the listener's experience.

Is there another podcast (aside from yours!) that you’d recommend to business leaders?
