Yukon Palmer, President of FieldLogix

Yukon Palmer is the founder and President of FieldLogix and is sharing his experience on how he used social media to grow his Field Resource Management business.

Can you give our readers some background on the main social platforms you use to grow your business?

I primarily use LinkedIn to grow my SaaS business. Most of our target customers and partners are active on LinkedIn.

Can you share a memorable example of how you leveraged social media to achieve significant business growth or a specific marketing objective?

I've found that posts related to my personal life actually tend to do better on LinkedIn compared to posts about my business. One particular post that went viral was a simple picture of me and my 14 year old son, who took time from his summer break to work in my office for 2 weeks.

What strategies or tactics have you found successful in building and engaging your social media audience?

It is helpful to connect and engage with industry and social media leaders. It is easier to grow your network organically when connected with influential people. It is also important to post valuable content regularly. I tend to post industry insights that help our customers, peers, and potential partners.

Are there any quick fixes that anyone can make to instantly improve their personal or business social profile?

Some quick fixes include improving the aesthetics of your profile. This includes a good profile picture (ideally a professional headshot) and a visually appealing background photo. You should also list your credentials in your bio or profile so people know that you are a credible person.

Is there any one tactic you'd recommend to people who want to grow their business using social media?

I would recommend that you connect with relevant and influential people and engage with them.

Are there any accounts you follow to find inspiration for your own content?

Greg Head on LinkedIn is a very insightful person who regularly posts content that is relevant to startups.

Can you share any insights on creating compelling and shareable content on social media that resonates with your target audience?

Personal posts are always good. It is best to humanize yourself on social media, rather than just posting about your business. Announcements for big personal wins generate significant engagement.

How do you measure the effectiveness of your social media efforts and how often do you do this?

I look at post impressions, comments and shares. I tend to check on a bi-weekly basis.

Finally, looking ahead, what emerging trends or changes do you foresee in the social media landscape, and how do you plan to adapt your social strategy to meet them?

AI-generated content will become more prominent over the next few years. It will likely produce a lot more content and drown out personally curated content. It will be even more important to create authentic, simple and personalized content as AI-generated content proliferates social media.
