Jessica Posillico on The Art of Monetizing What You Love

Jessica is the Founder of High Priestess Healing

Can you begin by telling our audience a little about yourself, your business, and what led you to pursue your particular passion as a profession?

Lover of tarot, healing modalities, and all things beyond the veil I received a calling to combine my passions into a heart healing centric business after a profound experience with Ayahuasca in 2021. Already a small business owner and employed full time at a reputable Ed Tech company, the calling surprised and confused me. How could I take on another change? How could I manage all of these moving parts? Daily meditation, integration, and following the intuitive nudge all helped me take the brave leap of faith and launch High Priestess Healing in June of 2022, followed by my resignation from corporate America.

I'm curious to know, what was the defining moment that made you realize that this passion could actually become a business? How did you identify the unique value it could bring to others?

After my retreat with plant medicine, I came to accept my calling to help others by sharing ways I have been healing myself. I've always had an unshakeable faith in my abilities in drive, so I knew I could make this happen. But it wasn't until launch day, 6/6/2022 (the 6•6•6 portal for my Angel number aficionados) that I received tangible evidence that this was REALLY going to be something. On launch day itself, I brought in 4 figures! I believe in signs, synchronicities, and universal direction, so this was confirmation from the Universe to go go go! I realized the unique value my services offered when my Tarot YouTube channel had a mini blow up on 11/11 that same year. I went from less than 100 followers to 1100 followers. Do you see that synchronicity? 1100 followers on 11/11! Another sign screaming at me "invest in this! Keep going!"

Every entrepreneur faces obstacles, especially when turning a passion into a business. Can you share some of the initial challenges you encountered and how you overcame them?

The BIGGEST obstacle I faced and continue to face in varying ways is the overwhelming feeling of being on a life raft in the middle of the ocean. Leaving the perceived security of a 9-5 job and betting all your chips on yourself and the Universe is such an emotional and mental battle. Leaning into the process, trusting it, and maintaining a consistent meditation & prayer practice helped keep my emotions as regulated as possible. Sometimes the only way to get rid of the monster under the bed is to stare it in the face. After 6-7 months of steady progress, that monster began to shrink. Now that monster is an assistant of mine- reminding me how far I've come.

Monetizing a passion requires a solid business model. Can you walk us through how you developed yours, and the key factors that make it successful?

A business model is useless if you don't believe in the business or services you're selling. My business model is: build a business that's a physical manifestation of what you believe in. And do it well. High Priestess Healing is an extension of me. It's ever evolving with the flow of my creativity and my clients' needs. (For business owners starting out, I do recommend investing in business coaches, marketing courses, and mentorship's to help develop your business methods and strategy for each stage of growth you're in.)

Many people worry that monetizing their passion may take the joy out of it. How have you managed to balance the business aspects with staying true to what you love?

Prioritizing self care, play, and grounding exercises keeps me balanced and allows for work to be something I look forward to. On the days I feel the resistance, I know it's because I "all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy".

As your business grew, what strategies did you employ to scale it while maintaining the core values and essence of what made it special in the first place?

Moving from 1:1 offers to group was a GAME CHANGER. That has allowed me to work with MORE people at once and fosters peer to peer connection in a safe container- an unforeseen need that presented itself in this work. Group offers have freed up more of my time in the day to plan, create, analyze data etc.

Your journey is truly inspiring. What key insights or pieces of advice would you offer to someone looking to turn their passion into profit?

Answer the call when you get it. And let them continue to call you to guide you step by step on the journey. Whether you're spiritual or not, listening to your inner voice and those subtle messages of clarity will lead you in the right direction. Invest in coaches, courses, and mentors who have taken the brave jump to guide you.

Reflecting on your journey so far, what are you most proud of? What future developments or projects are you excited about in your business?

I'm most proud of the community that's rising from the group services I offer. Watching people connect on a deep level, offering support to another, is a gift to witness. My crystal ball predicts more connecting group services on a grander scale coming soon!
