Sheila Pryce Brooks, Spiritual Life Coach

After battling chronic sleep paralysis for over 30 years, Sheila Pryce Brooks now brings the gifts she received from her spiritual awakening to people via her coaching consultancy. She tells The Industry Leaders why she does what she does.

How did you end up sitting where you are today?

I experienced the phenomena of sleep paralysis chronically for over 30 years. The experiences led me to a spiritual awakening, and I can now say that I have been free of sleep paralysis episodes for about two years. The awakening that I have been left with has transformed my life and awakened spiritual 'gifts' that I use with coaching clients.

My mission is now to bring more awareness to sleep paralysis and bring it out of the dark into the light, where it can be discussed without the fear and negative perceptions associated with it. Understanding sleep paralysis, and it's link to our spirituality provides an unprecedented opportunity for humankind.

What kind of work does your role involve?

I am a life coach, spiritual teacher/coach, speaker and author (one book has been published and another is currently with a publisher). My role involves working with people and seeing their potential at a non-physical level.

What gets you excited about your industry?

I enjoy helping and transforming people. Literally, seeing them become the people that they dream of being. When it comes to sleep paralysis, my work is new and groundbreaking. Both of these excite me.

What's the best advice anyone ever gave you?

'Just do it" Richard Branson. We have one life to live (that we are consciously aware of).

What, or who inspires you?

My work inspires me. Increasing our understanding of the non-physical environment excites me, as there is so much that we do not know.

How do you keep up to speed with what's happening in your industry?

I'm on the edge and create new knowledge as I go along. I also read a lot and do my own research.

What was the most challenging project or situation you've overcome?

My sleep paralysis.

You finish work today and step outside the office to find a lottery ticket that ends up winning $10 million. What would you do?

Invest it in my research about our spirituality and sleep paralysis. I would write books and circulate information via different mediums.

How do you switch off after a day at work?

I enjoy watching Star Trek; the original series with Captain Kirk.

If you had one wish for the future of your industry, what would it be?

That we keep going. We keep pushing the boundaries of what we know and share new knowledge and information.

What book or podcast should everyone know about?

I don't really listen to podcasts, but one book that I read over and over is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It's filled with magic, faith and hope.
