25 Life Coaching Leaders Shaping the Profession in 2026

Recognising the coaches, authors, speakers, and educators who led the global life coaching and personal development conversation between March 2025 and March 2026.

Life coaching has a credibility problem that its best practitioners are solving through the quality of their public work. The absence of universal regulation, the explosion of self-styled coaches across social media, and the blurring of the boundary between coaching and therapy have made it harder than ever for clients to know who to trust — and more important than ever for the profession's genuine leaders to demonstrate their rigour publicly. The life coaches on this list are the ones who, throughout the March 2025–March 2026 review period, were setting the standard — through published frameworks, evidence-based practice, genuine client outcomes, and a public voice that elevates the profession rather than merely promoting themselves within it. The Industry Leaders evaluates candidates on LinkedIn presence and engagement, thought leadership output in the past 12 months, professional reputation, media visibility, community impact, and industry recognition.

About This List

Every year, The Industry Leaders identifies 25 life coaches who are genuinely advancing the profession — building frameworks, publishing work, and demonstrating through their platforms what rigorous, ethical, and transformative life coaching looks like in practice. Candidates are evaluated on current LinkedIn presence and engagement, thought leadership output in the past 12 months, media visibility, published books and programmes, community building, and the demonstrable influence of their ideas on clients and the profession. This is a list about coaches whose work raises the bar for everyone in the field.

Top Life Coaching Leaders of 2026

1. Mel Robbins

Based in Boston, Massachusetts, USA

The most commercially successful life coaching voice on the planet in the March 2025–March 2026 review period, by any quantitative measure. The Let Them Theory was the number one bestselling book of 2025 according to Publishers Weekly, with 9+ million copies sold in its first twelve months — simultaneously topping the New York Times, Amazon, Audible, and Sunday Times bestseller lists. The Mel Robbins Podcast was the number one most-followed show on Apple Podcasts in 2025, the third largest show globally on both Spotify and Apple, and was nominated for the first-ever Golden Globe Award for Best Podcast. She appeared on CBS Sunday Morning on February 1, 2026. TIME named her one of the 100 Most Influential Digital Voices of 2025. With 40 million followers across platforms, her 143 Studios production company partners with organisations including JPMorgan Chase, LinkedIn, Starbucks, and Headspace. The creator of the 5 Second Rule and one of the most widely trusted voices in behaviour change, mindset, and personal development alive today.

2. Tony Robbins

Based in San Diego, CA, USA

The architect of the modern life coaching industry and still its most consequential practitioner, with over four decades of active work at the intersection of peak performance, strategic intervention, and personal transformation. Author of seven international bestsellers, coach to Fortune 500 CEOs and world leaders, founder of the Robbins Research International coaching system, and active across all major platforms throughout 2025-2026. His UPW (Unleash the Power Within) events continued to sell out globally. In partnership with Feeding America, he has personally provided over 1 billion meals through philanthropic commitments. The benchmark against which every other life coaching practice in the world measures itself.

3. Brené Brown

Based in Houston, Texas, USA

Already appearing in our Executive Coaching list, Brown's specific life coaching influence — her research on vulnerability, shame, and wholehearted living, and the Dare to Lead and The Gifts of Imperfection books that have shaped how millions of individuals approach their own personal development — belongs equally on this list. Her Unlocking Us and Dare to Lead podcasts continued throughout 2025-2026. A research professor at the University of Houston whose work has crossed over from academia to mass culture more successfully than any social scientist of her generation. The person who made vulnerability a framework rather than a weakness.

4. Jay Shetty

Based in Los Angeles, California, USA

Former monk, author of Think Like a Monk and 8 Rules of Love, and the creator of one of the most widely consumed personal development media ecosystems in the world — with over 40 million social media followers, a globally successful On Purpose podcast, and a certification programme that has trained thousands of coaches worldwide. Throughout 2025-2026, Shetty remained one of the most active and widely followed life coaching voices on social media, with his content consistently generating tens of millions of views. 5. Gretchen Rubin

Based in New York, NY, USA

A research-rigorous, practically deployable voice with enormous reach.

Based in New York, NY, USA

Author of twelve books including Super Attractor and Happy Days — the latter a deeply personal memoir about trauma and healing that resonated widely in the personal development community — and one of the most visible voices at the intersection of spirituality, self-help, and psychological healing. With over 2 million social media followers, a highly successful online course business, and a speaking programme that took her to major conferences globally throughout 2025-2026, Bernstein continued to be the most credible voice at the spirituality-meets-practical-coaching intersection, particularly for women navigating healing alongside life design.

7. Martha Beck

Based in USA

Author of The Way of Integrity (2021), Steering by Starlight, and ten other books, Harvard-trained sociologist, and Oprah's long-standing favourite life coach. Her Way of Integrity — a rigorous, Dante-inspired guide to building a life that aligns with your deepest values — continued to be widely discussed and recommended throughout 2025-2026. Active via her newsletter, podcast, and online community, Beck's combination of academic rigour, clinical insight, and genuinely transformative writing makes her one of the most intellectually serious life coaching voices in the world. The coach most often recommended by other coaches.

8. Glennon Doyle

Author of Untamed — one of the bestselling memoirs of the past decade — and founder of the Together Rising philanthropic organisation. Her We Can Do Hard Things podcast, co-hosted with her wife Abby Wambach and sister Amanda Doyle, continued to reach millions throughout 2025-2026, consistently ranking among the most listened-to personal development podcasts globally. One of the most culturally impactful personal development voices of her generation.

Throughout 2025-2026, Clear's weekly newsletter continued to be among the most shared personal development content on the internet, his speaking programme remained in high demand, and Atomic Habits continued to appear in virtually every life coaching recommendation list globally. The most practically useful framework for sustainable behaviour change available to both coaches and their clients.

10. Adam Grant

Based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Wharton professor, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Think Again, Give and Take, Originals, and Hidden Potential, and host of TED's WorkLife and Re:Thinking podcasts. Already featured in our Management Consulting list, Grant's life coaching influence — via his work on rethinking assumptions, building confidence in the face of doubt, and developing the skills that make people more effective and fulfilled — is distinctly worth recognising here. One of the most widely followed academics on LinkedIn with millions of followers, posting daily content throughout 2025-2026. His ability to translate organisational psychology research into practical life guidance makes him one of the most rigorous voices in the personal development space.

Founder of The Life Coach School — the most successful life coaching certification business in the world, which has certified thousands of coaches and generates revenues at a scale that makes it a genuinely transformational force in the profession's structure. Her Self-Coaching Scholars community and The Life Coach School Podcast continued throughout 2025-2026. The most operationally impactful figure in how the profession actually trains its practitioners.

Active throughout 2025-2026 through her Inner Visions Institute, her podcast, and a continued speaking and coaching practice, Vanzant occupies a unique position as both a highly credentialed practitioner and one of the most recognisable public faces of life coaching in the world. Her framework — integrating spiritual development, ancestral healing, and practical life design — has influenced a generation of coaches working with communities that mainstream coaching has historically underserved.

16. Marie Forleo

Based in New York, NY, USA

Entrepreneur, author of Everything is Figureoutable — a New York Times bestseller — founder of B-School (the online business training programme with over 80,000 alumni globally), host of The Marie Forleo Podcast, and one of the most widely followed life and business coaching voices in the world. Clinical psychologist, author of Radical Acceptance and Trusting the Gold, and one of the most widely listened-to meditation and self-compassion teachers in the world, with hundreds of thousands of people downloading her free weekly podcast throughout 2025-2026. Her work on RAIN — Recognise, Allow, Investigate, Nurture — has become one of the most widely deployed frameworks in both life coaching practice and therapeutic settings for processing difficult emotions. Her story — from government assistance to self-made millionaire, built on a philosophy of radical self-belief and service to others — gives her a moral credibility with audiences that is impossible to manufacture.

21. Susie Moore

Based in New York, NY, USA

Life coach, columnist, author of Stop Checking Your Likes and What if It Does Work Out?, and one of the most practically accessible and genuinely warm voices in the life coaching space, with particular reach among professionals and career changers. Active throughout 2025-2026 with a consistent media presence, writing for outlets including Entrepreneur, TIME, and Newsweek, and a coaching practice that has helped thousands of professionals build sidelines into full-time businesses. Her ability to make life coaching feel accessible and undramatic — rather than mystical or aspirational — fills an important gap in the profession.

22. Rich Litvin

Based in Los Angeles, California, USA

Co-author of The Prosperous Coach — widely regarded as the most practically useful book ever written specifically on the business of life coaching — and founder of The Four Percent Club, a community for elite coaches serving presidents, Olympic athletes, Hollywood directors, and special forces operatives. Throughout 2025-2026, Litvin remained one of the most respected voices on the craft of high-performance coaching itself — not personal development content for a mass audience, but the specific art of deep coaching work with ambitious clients. His approach — fewer clients, deeper impact, higher prices — offers a rigorous alternative to the mass-market personal development model.

23. Natalie Bacon

Based in Chicago, IL, USA

Life coach, podcast host, and one of the fastest-growing voices in the women's personal development coaching space throughout 2025-2026. A former financial planner and attorney who retrained as a life coach and built a highly successful online coaching practice, Bacon's work on emotional adulthood — the concept that we are responsible for our own feelings and no one else's — and the specific challenges of self-coaching resonates strongly with professional women seeking rigorous rather than inspirational frameworks. An important emerging voice bringing intellectual honesty to a space that can default to positivity without accountability.

Throughout 2025-2026, Gaskins remained one of the most actively publishing and consistently engaging coaches in the profession, with daily content reaching a large and loyal audience — particularly on the topics of relationships, self-worth, and building a purposeful life. His coaching programmes and online courses have served hundreds of thousands of clients globally. One of the most recognisable Black voices in the life coaching profession and an important counterweight to the demographic homogeneity that still characterises much of the industry's most prominent platforms.

25. Cheryl Richardson

Based in Newburyport, New Hampshire, USA

Author of Take Time for Your Life, Life Makeovers, and The Art of Extreme Self-Care, and one of the most historically significant figures in the life coaching profession — having been one of the first practitioners to bring coaching to mainstream audiences via The Oprah Winfrey Show in the late 1990s. Active throughout 2025-2026 with her writing, speaking, and community work, Richardson remains one of the most respected voices on what sustainable, values-aligned living actually requires in daily practice, and one of the most credible elder statespeople of the profession for emerging coaches seeking a lineage to learn from.
